The first issue is wonderful and inspiring. Thank you Olena Yaremchuk, as always, you managed to unite smart, talented and multifaceted personalities, to do great and creative work. I enjoyed reading your sincere and touching stories of achievements and gains in such difficult times.
My journey was not easy either. Like the eldest of us, I did not plan to move to another country, but circumstances turned out so that in 2022 I ended up in London. First of all, I realized that I would not be able to work here and now as a lawyer (in the classical sense of the word).
Because the continental law system and the common law system are two big differences. As a result, a lawyer who studied in a country with a continental law system (Ukraine or European countries) has to go through a long and not easy path of confirming his diploma in the United Kingdom (a country with a common law system). I didn’t have time, so I decided to go the practical route and simply began to study opportunities for the development of entrepreneurial activity.
I want to say in one phrase: United Kingdom is a country of great opportunities for the development and financing of businesses of various levels, especially for innovative businesses and eco-friendly businesses.
I studied all types of financing (the most popular are grants). I went through all the stages in practice, starting with the generation of an idea. Then writing a business plan in English. Then monitoring organizations and foundations (there are more than 2,500 such institutions and it is important to choose the one that is ideal for your idea and business plan). I submitted an application according to the rules and deadlines and waited for the result of considering my work.
Thus, I received grant funding. It wasn’t a lot of money, but it was my first productive and successful experience in a new country. And also, a lot of new and useful knowledge. Then there were several more successful cases for my friends.
